Did you know that you are fully dressed with God’s armor because you are a child of God? You wear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Truth, Salvation, Righteousness, and the Gospel of Peace, are just like clothing! We handle and use our Faith and the Word of God so as to have "good success."

Each piece has been specifically designed to cover and protect a vital part of our being. God wants us to understand the structure of each piece, so we can have His victorious life!

The rise of the Roman Empire was due to the well-equipped Roman Soldier who was trained in strategy, weaponry, defense, and understanding the enemy. Using the Roman Soldier's armor as a visual example, the Apostle Paul describes the Armor of God in the Book of Ephesians as both a defense and further as an offensive weapon.

If you've been feeling guilty, depressed, or fearful of late, it is perhaps you are not wearing the protective armor that God has provided for you, which you can put on in faith.

Ephesians 6 Put on the full armor of God

Belt of Truth

              Breastplate of Righteousness

              Helmet of Salvation

              Sandals of the Gospel of Peace

              Shield of Faith

              Sword of the Spirit

Ephesians 6:1-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Understanding our Warfare

Let's examine Ephesians 6:2 again. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]." Here, Paul is saying that it is not people (flesh and blood) we are fighting against - your enemy is neither your brother in church who offended you, nor your relatives or your neighbor, but Satan and his Spiritual forces who have already been defeated by Jesus but refuse to accept that defeat.

Because our enemy is spiritual, it takes spiritual weapons to fight the good fight of faith.

2.Corinthians 10:4-6 reveals:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

  Belt of Truth

As they geared up, the Roman Soliders first put on the girdle or belt. The belt was the one item to which other items were attached. The girdle protected the mid to lower abdomenal area.

Ephesians 6:14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth.

Jhon 14:6  "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me."

Psalm 51:6 "Behold, Thou dost desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part Thou wilt make me know wisdom."

Jeremiah 31:33 I will put My law within them, and on thier heart I will write it; and I will be thier God, and they shall be My people."

Jhon 8:31-32 "If you abide by My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall kmow the truth, and the truth shall make you free".

  Breastplate of Righteousness

One key area the Soldier's breastplate protected was the heart. While the heart is the one key organ responsible for sending blood through our circulatory system to keep us alive, our spiritual lives can die if our hearts are not right with God!

Ephesians 6:14 ...And having put on the breastplate of righteousness

11Corinthians 5:21 "He made Him who know no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him".

Romans 5:19 "For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinner, even so through the obedience of the One, the many will be made righteous".

Romans 10:9,10 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation".

Gosple of Peace

Some historians credit footwear as one of the greatest reasons why the Roman Army was so victorious over its enemies. The Roman Soldier was equipped with footware that had spikes on the soles which provided them a strong enough stance and balance that gave them a superior posture in battle on hills and uneven terrain. In martial arts, the stance is the most important move and is what is practiced first, for from the basic stance are all manners of kicks and punches launched!

Have you ever noticed how when you stub your toe - when your foot hurts, the whole person hurts? In the Bible, feet speaks of your walk (Proverbs 19:2). When you are walking in the peace of God, not only do you have a sensitivity for Godly wisdom (James 3:17) but that your proclamation of the Gospel is particularly blessed (Isaiah 52:7). Make sure you do this with an alert mind when you put your the armor on in the morning.

Ephesians 6:15 And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gosple of peace.

Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me".

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world".

Psalm 31:8 "And Thou hast not given me over into the hand of the enemy; Thou hast set my feet on a large place:.

Psalm 40:2 He brought me out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay. and set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm".

  Shield of Faith

The Roman Soldier was equipped with a shield that effectively deflected arrows. While many movies show these shields as round, others have depicted them as rectangular. However, some historians have indicated that this was a full-length body shield.

Psalms 3:3 in the NIV says, "You, O Lord, are a shield about me." God provides 360-degree by 360-degree complete protection! Notice that Ephesians 6:16 says that with this sheild we will be able "to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked" or the "wicked one" - which is the enemy. These "darts" are the very flash thought attacks we get out of the blue for no reason at all! Remember that faith is the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). We don't need to see with our natural eyesight in order to believe something of God. Our vision comes from our faith in God. "Man says, 'seeing is believing' but God says, 'believing is seeing!'"

Ephesians 6:16 In addition to all, taking up the shiled of faith with which you will be able to extinuish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me".

Paslm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength amd my shield".

Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

Paslm 3:3 "But Thou, O Lord, art a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head".

Helmet of Salvation

Helmets is a part of armor, A well-designed helmet will protect you from various angles of attack. Remember what is in your helmet, your head and in your head is your mind, keep it covered with Christ.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation.

Hebrews 5:9 :And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of enernal salvation."

Acts 4:12 "And there is salavtion on no one eles, for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved'.

Psalm 140:7 "O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of the battle".

1Thessalonians 5"9 For God has not destined us for wrsth, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ".

Sword of the Spirit

The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Satan said, "If You are the Son of God...." Yet Jesus did not respond like many of us would. So many of us shout at the Devil and believe that our volume is proportional to the distance Satan will flee from us! However, Jesus quoted His Father's words and spoke them with authority. Consequently, each Word-thrust was like a sword-blow to Satan's head! God has given us the authority to use His words because we are all ambassadors of Christ (Ephesians 6:20)! Hebrews 4:12 reveals that the Word of God "is quick and powerful...."

Ephesians 6:17 And the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.

Jhon 1:14 "And the word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we behole His glory, glory as the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active and sharper then any two-edged sword, and pirecing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts andintentions of the heart".

Psalm 149"6 "Let the high praises of God be in thier mouth, and a two-edged sword in thier hand".

Revelation 1:16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.

Beloved, keep your full Armor oil which is the word of God that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil
